Ten Minute Yoga Plan for busy people

Whether you are at home with children or working too many hours at the office, you feel there is no time to do anything else. But you would be wrong, you don't have to spend an hour or two, anytime you can spend doing Yoga will be beneficial.
Yoga stretches and postures can be done in bed, watching television or even while driving to work. Many people use their lunch hour to fit in exercise and take off extra pounds, so why not use some of that time for Yoga?

There are so many postures, positions and practices you can undertake and many of them don't need to be undertaken at Yoga lessons. 12 step salute to the sun and Downward facing dog are just two of the postures that could be done regularly.
But here are some exercises for you if you can only find a 10 minute window.

Kettle boiling / Computer Log-on Pose
Interlock your fingers behind your head. Relax your elbows and shoulders. Smile, breathe and stretch your elbows back. Let the tightness release slowly.

Recipe / E-mail Meditation
While reading your e-mail or todays recipe, remember to breathe slowly and focus your attention on your breath. Make the out-breath two times longer than the in-breath. This will immediately calm you.

Washing Machine / Photocopier Stretch
Place your hands on the edge of the washing machine or photocopier. Stand back with feet apart. Drop your head and chest. Breathe and relax your shoulders.

"I can deal with anything" Pose
Raise your arms to the side with fingers pointed. Take a big step to the side, with your right foot out and knee bent, your left foot planted, left leg straight. Keep the upper body straight and strong, shoulders relaxed. Relax into the stretch -- don't hold your breath. Return to a standing position, switch sides and repeat.

If you practice yoga in the middle of day, many people think this is just the break and relaxation they need to face the afternoon. But whatever you do, remember, however little you do, Yoga will be a help, the more you do the better you will feel.
